Problem
This article helps us to determine the following case:
- Software not launching a window
- Debug error reads "invalid or no hasp connected"
Solution
There are number of potential sources of this error, which fall into two categories, depending on your method of licensing:
Method A - Hasp Dongle
- Check that there is a Hasp dongle connected.
- If a Hasp dongle is plugged in, check that the light is on. If not, remove and reinsert the Hasp dongle. If still no light, install/reinstall Hasp driver software.
- Check that the Hasp dongle label matches the computer and project.
- Check that there is only one Hasp dongle connected to the computer. If multiple are present, disconnect all and reconnect only the one for the associated software.
Method B - Soft License (software license that requires no hardware)
- Invalid or expired soft license needs to be updated. Please contact GRi for assistance.
- Ensure that the software is not being started over a remote connection.
- Check the debug(flexlm).txt for the following error, which indicates that remote access is the source of the issue:
Error text: Cannot checkout an uncounted license within a Windows Terminal Services guest session.
- Check the debug(flexlm).txt for the following error, which indicates that remote access is the source of the issue:
Non specific to type of licensing (Method A or Method B)
- Hasp driver software needs to be installed. Please contact GRi for software installer.
- For Hasp dongle, this can be verified by checking the dongle for a light. If a light is present, then the driver software is working correctly.
- Check version of windows. The licensing software requires Windows 7 or Windows 10.
