LARS SIMULATION SYSTEM

Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) are an essential component of safe and efficient ROV operations, often playing a vital role in harsh marine environments. In recognition of the challenging and vital functions of these systems, GRi has developed a LARS simulator which uses advanced sea-state physics, vessel RAO data, and real-world controls for a highly authentic simulation experience.

GRi’s LARS simulator is a stand-alone training solution which may be used to target specific mission requirements, but may also be integrated with other GRi products to provide team training opportunities.

Features

  • Controls: GRi’s LARS controls follow real-world models, allowing for the training nuances of actual controls as opposed to foreign interfaces
  • Full sea-state training: Merges surface and splash-zone dynamic influences for high fidelity training.
  • Response Amplitude Operator (RAO) data: RAO data is entered to permit a highly customizable and realistic platform for training.

Applications

  • ROV LARS operator training: Allows the LARS operator to maintain a high level of proficiency
  • Team training: LARS training is fully integrated with other VROV products, providing a solution for team-based training objectives.
  • Full-scale testing: simulated LARS training provides the opportunity for full-scale testing of systems and procedures without incurring the risk and expense of real-world training.
